Composting Humanure

How is it possible that there aren't any threads yet in my favorite survival topic?! I know it's weird, but I'm passionate about composting humanure as opposed to pit toilets, raw sewage wandering around, etc. Composting is the magic alchemy that turns literal sh!t into nutrient rich fertilizer. It takes time and ratios of Carbon/Nitrogen etc. but it is not difficult. I've almost exclusively been composting my own waste for 2 years while on the road and staying with normal friends. It's doable. Now, to inspire you: 2 books really opened my mind to how vile it is to put human waste into the water systems. And what an elegant option exists instead with composting. 1) Holy Shit! by Gene Logsdon. He's a real sharp mind and excellent writer and farmer with background in archeology if I remember right. This book is more philosophical. 2) The Humanure Handbook by Joseph Jenkins. This one is more a practical how-to manual with some cultural points. One fun thing form my second marriage was that my hubby allowed us to have a composting toilet system in the master bathroom. It feels So Good to not be filling the septic tank or the water cycle with nutrients that should stay on the farm.
