Whomever you decide to settle in a community with it’s good for everybody to know their blood type and all of their allergies and illnesses, past broken bones and ailments. If you have somebody that’s a doctor, nurse, or nurse practitioner, veterinarian, or somebody acting in that role. It is good that the community lets that person know each person‘s itinerary (lifetime) of issues. It would not be a bad thing that if you created a notebook for each person of your family with his information included in it that you could just give to the medical team in each community. I would also seriously look into some type of blood transfusion kit.
At some point, everybody should also seriously consider the level of their medical kits that they have not just for themselves but for their families and or communities. To what level do you think you could go so far as to operate on somebody? It would not be a bad idea to also create an inventory of all of your medical supplies. Please do not share that information here. Keep that with you along with your personal medical history notebooks. You may want to consider going to various farm and feed stores. Many of them have bulk items that you cannot get anywhere else that could be used for livestock. Much of the same thing can also be used on humans as well. Also for a much better and lower price then you will find online or at any pharmacy. You’re just going to get basic cheap Band-Aids and hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol. You may also want to consider government auctions/military surplus auctions, or if you know somebody that works at a hospital that has access to expired items like bandages, and such that usually are issued in sealed plastic with an expiration date. The expiration date is there mainly to keep the hospitals buying new stuff. Even if the item has stayed sealed within its container, sometimes this is a valuable resource.
I would also consider having as part of your medical inventories, various types of books like Grey’s Anatomy, Emergency War Surgery and other medical books/ TM’s/ Training Manuals, issued by the military and even possibly some like PDR’s or Physicians Desk References, so you can figure out what some medication’s might be that you have scrounged and found after the flip or a societal collapse.
