Diet and Fasting

I noticed a conversation of fasting and diet was going on in today's live stream. I'd like to share mine as well. I had this conversation with Grok a while back.

Question 1
I want to ask about my normal vegetarian keto diet. I’ve been eating this way since April and feel great. I’d like to know if I’m doing it right or if I should change anything.

I’ve stopped all snacks, sugar, bread and noodles. I eat only two meals a day (breakfast and lunch) and skip dinner because I’m often busy and prefer going to bed with an empty stomach.

Breakfast:
2–3 organic eggs fried in grass-fed butter (plus extra butter), garlic, onion, spices and pink salt. Homemade yoghurt with honey. A bowl of mixed fruit and raw vegetables (bananas, grapes, mango, watermelon, tomatoes, bell peppers — I choose a few that are available). Coffee + Total Swiss Fit Solution supplement.

Lunch:
1 boiled egg, 2–3 small spoons of brown rice, some fruit/vegetables as above, plus cooked vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato leaves, loofah). Sometimes a small bowl of mixed nuts between meals or after lunch.
Evening: cup of tea.

Starting weight: 91 kg → now 78 kg. I also fast 2–3 days twice a month.

Answer
You’re doing a lot of things right — the results speak for themselves (13 kg loss while feeling great). This is a practical, sustainable low-carb vegetarian diet with strong keto elements, time-restricted eating and periodic longer fasts. It focuses on whole foods and fits your lifestyle well. It’s not always strict keto, but it’s clearly working for weight, energy and satiety.

What’s working well

  • High-fat, moderate-protein base (eggs + grass-fed butter) is excellent.
  • Plenty of cooked low-carb vegetables (including Taiwanese favorites) provide fiber and micronutrients.
  • Homemade yoghurt adds probiotics.
  • Skipping dinner creates a long daily fasting window; the 2–3 day fasts twice a month add extra benefit.
  • Total Swiss Fit Solution helps cover gaps common in vegetarian diets.
  • Cutting junk food is a huge win; occasional nuts are fine.
Potential areas to review
Daily net carbs can vary and sometimes exceed strict keto targets (20–50 g) mainly because of:

  • Fruit (bananas, grapes, mango are higher-carb; watermelon is lower)
  • Honey in the yoghurt
  • Small amount of brown rice
You’re still in a fat-burning, low-insulin state that supports weight loss. Since you feel great, the flexible “low-carb vegetarian” style is probably ideal for long-term sustainability.

Also worth watching: electrolytes (you already use pink salt), possible needs for B12, omega-3, iron or vitamin D (your supplement likely helps), and long-term effects of frequent fasting on energy, muscle and hormones. Stay hydrated.

Optional tweaks (only if you want to optimize further)

  • Prefer lower-carb fruit (more watermelon, limit banana/mango/grapes, or try berries/avocado).
  • Reduce or replace honey with a keto-friendly sweetener.
  • Occasionally swap the rice for extra vegetables or cauliflower rice.
  • Track food for 3–7 days in an app such as Cronometer to see exact macros.
  • Add variety in fats (avocado, olive oil) if desired.
  • Continue listening to your body — how you feel is the best guide.
Sample day (gentle adjustment)
Breakfast: 2–3 eggs in butter + spices/salt, small yoghurt (minimal honey), lower-carb fruit, coffee + supplement.
Lunch: cooked vegetables + 1 boiled egg + small rice (or skip) + some fruit/veg + nuts if needed.
Evening: tea.

You’re already on a strong path. Keep up the great work!

Follow-up
I also take 2 slices of pre-cut cheese with breakfast, extra vitamin D3 + K2, black seed oil, garlic extract oil and magnesium glycinate. Lunch vegetables are normally cooked in extra-virgin coconut oil.

Updated answer
These additions make the diet even stronger and more complete.

  • Cheese boosts fat and protein.
  • Coconut oil adds useful MCTs.
  • D3+K2, magnesium glycinate, black seed oil and garlic extract nicely cover common low-carb/vegetarian gaps and support fasting.
Overall picture remains excellent: high healthy fats (butter, coconut oil, cheese, eggs, nuts), quality protein, plenty of vegetables, strategic fasting and minimal processed carbs. The main carb variables are still the fruit, honey and small amount of rice.

Minor optional suggestions
Same as before — mainly managing fruit/honey portions if you want deeper ketosis, tracking once for clarity, and choosing additive-free cheese when possible. Your current supplement stack looks well-balanced.

Updated sample day
Breakfast: eggs in butter + 2 cheese slices + spices, yoghurt (minimal honey), mixed fruit/veg (lower-carb when possible), coffee + Total Swiss.
Lunch: vegetables cooked in coconut oil + boiled egg + small rice + fruit/veg + nuts if needed.
Evening: tea.

No major changes needed. The additions you shared actually strengthen the diet further. You’re doing this very well — the combination of whole foods, smart fats, vegetables, fasting and targeted supplements is thoughtful and clearly effective for you.

Just based on what you've posted here, I would tweak a few things.
I'm don't know what your "ideal" weight is based on your body type and height, but let's say it's 75kg and you're between 5'8'' and 5'10''.

For that to happen with proper muscular support, you need to be ingesting 165g of protein every day, and you're eating less than half that.

You are losing fat, but you are also losing a lot of muscle. And muscle is important, especially in men, because it influences important metabolic processes like Testosterone production, insulin sensitivity, and cortisol response. You may need to supplement with a suitable protein powder, or eat a lot more eggs.

I strongly advise against iron supplementation, and skip the Magnesium glycinate. You will have more than enough in your diet.
Instead, I would be taking Copper glycinate, and iodine with half a teaspoon of table salt every morning. I would also cut out the cup of tea (if it's normal black tea), because it's full of fluorine, which binds to receptor sites in your Thyroid and Pituitary glands, and prevents Iodine from binding where it should. It works in conjunction with Copper to transport Iron in and out of cells. The iron gets trapped inside, oxidizes, and ultimately causes all sorts of chronic issues.

I'd also ditch the brown rice in favor of white. The hulls contain anti-nutrients which bind (chelate) nutrients in your food and makes them biologically unavailable. If you choose a long grain variety, cook it the day before, let it cool, and refrigerate it overnight then the starch changes form and doesn't spike your insulin like freshly cooked rice does.

If you're looking for fat loss, I would eat dinner at least 3 hours before bed (don't skip it), and skip breakfast instead so that your nightly fast is extended. Insulin is at it's lowest point in the morning, and it's the best time to do walking exercise because the low insulin state combined with large muscle groups working, results in hormonal release that activates fat burning and muscle growth. You can accentuate the effect by drinking a cup of black unsweetened coffee when you get up, and start the walk 30-45 mins after waking.

This is closer to what I need to shed a few pounds myself. I need to cut out those cookies…lol
