Foraging

Hey, who's foraging? Two days ago, I foraged 5 lbs of Chicken of the Wood and a maitake!

I think it'll be fun to have a thread where we can share what we're actually practicing. I found all of those delicious shrooms while water dowsing on my retreat property.

I was up in the Greenstone district of NW Ontario this past week for work, and spent 3.5 hours on my way home picking blueberries.
They were unbelievably thick this year. Super El Nino appears to be good for them.

Found chanterelles in our backyard and served them this morning with our bacon & home egg , onion, pepper, tomato, zucchini, garlic breakfast. Nice surprise! HL in RI

Those are beautiful! What are you going to do with them?
I will freeze them for now. My kids love eating frozen berries as a snack, or in smoothies.

Here is today's haul:

The dark berries are chokecherries. I will be using them to make port.

The raspberries came from my back yard from a variety called "fall-bearing raspberries" that fruit on first year and second year canes. You can literally prune them with a lawn mower. I've been picking about this amount every day for 2 weeks now. not exactly foraging I know, but I thought it was worth mentioning because many people don't know about them.

I'm glad you included the info about the raspberry cultivar. I will be looking for it to add to my own garden!
Chokecherry port sounds interesting! We also make wine but have never tried a port. I'll have to tell my partner about it. She's the wine maker in the family.
Your pics are fantastic btw!
