SOP’s is short for Standard Operating Procedures. They are basically a set of rules for any group of people to follow, in order to ensure internal structured cohesion. For a group to survive and possibly thrive after the catastrophe, having a known set of rules prior to the event will put you and your community in a higher percentage of those that overcome the obstacles set before you. Having a chosen or voted in leader and officers additionally make for smoother sailing. I realize this may sound militaristic, but keeping your crew together in stressful times may or may not break your cohesion. I’d also consider placing people in leadership roles that have the most experience in those areas. Like healing, foraging, gardening and security. Honestly, you can set up your communities however you like but it may be a good idea to start listing ideas to present to your groups that you may discuss and decide where you want to take it.
Topics you’ll want to discuss are shelter, water, food resource procurement, defensive perimeters both static and mobile, if it’s a larger group, you’ll need security both night and day. These are just a few, but each one and more should be covered in detail as best as possible for a more safer, self sufficient sanctuary.
