Designed by a Greek named Philo of Byzantium sometime after 280 BC. The Polybolos which in Greek meant ‘ To fire many shots’. Was created to overcome larger and more slower siege weapons, like the Roman designed Scorpio, which was a large 2-3 man single shot mounted crossbow. The Polybolos saw the 1st ever designed gear and 1st ever cam mechanism in the ancient world.
Also think that before the advent of gunpowder it was just bolts and arrows. So any survivors now, may have the ability with the right knowledge to launch both. Those people will most definitely have the upper hand guarding your keep against interlopers and marauding bands of neverdowells besieging your lords castle…lol.
