One of the default features of Xenforo is the use of Tags. Tags can be added when creating a thread, or added afterward (if you have permissions set to do so, but that's another topic).
I've incorporated an addon I purchased that expands the functionality of Tags a bit. I haven't fully configured this addon, but it will allow filtering of threads by tags and "tag cloud widgets" in each sub-forum.
For now though, you can view all content tags here

If you select a tag, you will get an auto-generated Wiki for that tag, and a list of all threads with that tag.
This is a great feature to have for the Knowledge Bases, because it can be tricky to find which sub-forum contains the information you are looking for, especially when one thread/topic contains information that crosses over many different areas of knowledge. Conversely, when you are trying to figure out which subforum to place a topic, you don't have to fret much because you can use Tags to earmark each aspect of your content, then place it in the one that fits the best (or just put it into a general category.
As a side note, there is no subforum specifically for "Books". My plan is to create a stand-alone page that references all book tags located through the forum, in a more advanced way than the Tags system does.
