Wildfires

I have watch duty and get notifications. Fires are going to be a horrible situation because there will be no stopping them without huge resources that will not be available. Fires in the cities will consume the entire area. Fires across Prairie's will go unbated. Land we had looked at last summer is now cinders. Insurance was the main reason we didn't buy. $12,000- $18,000 a year. Probably part of the reason all cultures were nomadic in this area and north.

What I'm looking into is how the native americans dealt with them prior to european settlement. What I've seen so far is how they created boundaries like fire breaks. I know living on a river might help too for water access. I'm planning on building my home as an earthbag home, which is pretty much fire proof. But that's just the house. Won't help anything else.

Yes, with a thick coating of plaster or stucco on the exterior that would protect the bags. It's all the other things around that that are flammable. Window frames, doors, vents things like that. It's tough though because like you say everything else is going to be burned. There is something to be said about having a fifth wheel trailer or a class a motorhome set up as your house, but of course that is very limiting in space. On the other hand, you can take it wherever you want whenever you want for now or if you need to leave because of fire.

you can't leave with that RV after the solar killshot. I'm talking about how to deal with wildfires post earth disaster. How will everyone , specially in these dryer more arid western states that are in the safe zones.

True, the RV is for clown week and getting to where you need to be if you are not already there. That is my strategy and has been for five years living full-time in my RV traveling the country. Learned a lot about minimizing my needs and resources. The RV will be temporary shelter while organizing or being part of an established community. The SKS is only one of many possibilities for a collapse. And is probably the most extreme.
